Employment Law Consulting & Litigation

Florida businesses need to know how to navigate employee situations that arise- especially when they have potential legal consequences.

It is best to make sure the business has legally compliant policies and practices so the company can operate effectively and legally while engaging and retaining its top talent.

Typical issues that can lead to employee lawsuits are:

  • misclassification of employees as independent contractors
  • failure to have employment documents/records
  • improper payment of employees (salary and hourly)
  • termination of employees without considering legal risks

Karly Wannos serves as an outside employment law attorney on the employment laws and guides companies on  day-to-day issues to help ensure legal compliance.

Workplace Investigations

Employers are required to promptly investigate workplace complaints involving discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Employers are also required to take steps to prevent and correct any improper behavior. Workplace investigations require a complete understanding of employment laws and the ability to meaningfully engage with the employees involved. While some workplace investigations can be handled internally, certain complex or sensitive situations are best conducted by an employment law attorney- investigator, who is well versed in the law, and has litigated cases involving discrimination, harassment and workplace investigations.

The Wannos Law Firm provides prompt, independent and efficient workplace investigations in response to employee complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and/or a serious policy violation.
